Character's appearance:

Slightly disheveled, though not unkempt. Brown hair complements brown eyes, and his face looks a little older than he really is. When he shows them, his arms are covered with scars, old and new, as are his hands. His clothes have a tattered appearance, old cloth worn far too long.

Brief character history:

Remus was bitten by a werewolf when he was a very small child. Since then he has endured unspeakable pain every month of his life, both physical and emotional. He has grown up with secrets that have estranged not only his family, but his peers. Always the topic of whispers and low tones gossip, Remus was both elated and terrified when he learned that the headmaster of Hogwarts was going to allow him to come study there. The only thing better than finding himself in a place where no one knew him, or suspected him, and held so many tomes of knowledge, was making three best friends. Everything was wonderful, including being made a prefect, until one of them revealed his secret. He almost killed another boy and he has not forgotten that moment a single minute of his life. And yet he forgave. After graduating, Remus was hardly able to find work. If it wasn't the consistent absences, it was his tattered and bruised appearance that turned people off to him. He made enough money to scrape by, refusing the financial assistance of his friends. It wasn't a year later he fell in love. More accurately, finally realised he'd been in love for quite some time. But by the time he was able to say it, it was already too late. The object of his affection had rejected him. It was more than he could take, and in a moment of unthinkable rashness, he fled. Everything. Including his own life.

Brief description of personality:

Remus is quiet and reserved, normally preferring to spend time on his own with a book than in the company of others. He prefers it, but doesn't exactly like it. In addition to booksmarts, Remus has an air of wisdom about him possessed only by those who have lived a long time, or those who have lived through too much. Despite being rather lonely, Remus can appear flighty and avoidant around others. Past pains have forced up walls in certain places that he isn't so sure can ever be broken down. Despite this outward, awkward appearance, Remus is a thoughtful and kind person. Extremely empathetic, in most cases he cannot stand by and watch others suffer any kind of injustice or abuse from others, and he often finds himself lending a helping hand to those who need it. He is also unintentionally charming, often attracting unwanted attention. His secrets, their revelations still haunting him, can make him seem cold if someone broaches a sensitive subject. At times he is often weary, so much so that he can become curt and reproachful to anyone who seeks him out. While he always feels apologetic afterward, the words never pass his lips. 'Sorry' is something with which he is unfamiliar, it seems, save when it is directed at him. His flaw is forgiveness, too readily given, and too honestly offered.
